We are often asked by friends, family, and fellow travelers on what the “must-sees” or “top places” are for a country or a region. There are plenty of lists from various notable sources such as the Hillman Wonders of the World, Lonely Planet’s Top 500 Global Destinations, Patricia Schultz’s 1000 Places to Visit Before You Die, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and countless other lists produced by National Geographic, Huffington Post, CNN, travel magazines, and bloggers such as 100 Places to Visit Before You Die.  And there are specific lists for natural wonders, man-made wonders, top adventures, best road trips & drives, most beautiful places,  bucket lists, etc.

When we make our travel plans, we reference all of these lists as a starting point, then we do some further research to decide, if we could, or should, incorporate these places into our itinerary.  Most of the time, this advance planning pays off, as we may not know some of the lesser known sights.   But we have visited places that are highly praised on many lists that do not resonate with us.

Then why do we need yet another list of world wonders or top sights of the world, especially from ordinary people like us?  Because this is our website for our lives re-imagined.  So we have the journalistic license, based on our own travel experience, to make a list of top favorite places with the “Wow” factor to visit in the world.  And of course we will be adding to this list as we continue to explore,  travel the world, and find new “Wow” places.
