Watersprite Lake near Squamish is a crystal clear, turquoise lake framed by dramatic peaks. It is one of the most spectacular hikes close to Metro Vancouver.
It has been a hidden gem for years but ever since a new trail was completed by the BC Mountaineering Club in 2016, the word is out and it is rapidly gaining in popularity.
Besides the Lake, the hike on route is full of awesome views, with snow-capped mountains, valleys, flowers and creeks, all along a well-marked and easy to follow trail.
The only caution is that the 20-km drive on gravel uphill road to the trail head requires a 4×4 vehicle with high clearance.
There is a nice outcrop half way into the trail known as “The Prow Lookout” on a ridge that overlooks the entire valley.
There is also a 10-person cabin at the lake available for reservation by BCMC members.
The hike to this beautiful lake is well worth the 6-7 hours of hiking in any season.
